Fast food franchisee adds two Subway outlets to original Scunthorpe venture

Entrepreneurial fast food franchisee Muhammad Ali has added two more Subway outlets to his original Scunthorpe town centre base.

He is taking on the branches on Skippingdale and Glanford retail parks, five years on from his initial venture in the High Street.

With locations in areas of high footfall, he is confident both will provide the platform he needs to grow his franchise business further.

Mr Ali, who operates under the SSK Food Ltd banner, said: “I’m proud to be investing locally and look forward to building on the success both stores have experienced so far. It’s an exciting time to increase my portfolio, especially with both stores being situated within two of Scunthorpe’s major retail parks where the demand for quality on the go food is high.”

He has secured a £310,000 acquisition loan to finance the deal, buying out the previous franchise owner.

Together the two outlets total 2,012 sq ft, and it takes his team up to 15, with two more outlets planned for 2020.

Paul Armstrong, Lincolnshire area director for business banking at HSBC, said: “We’re committed to supporting local entrepreneurs who have ambitions to successfully grow a business so we were pleased to be able to help Muhammad take advantage of this exciting opportunity. We wish him the best of luck for the future as he expands his business.”
