Fast facts about new Bengals RB Darrin Hall

The Cincinnati Bengals claimed running back Darrin Hall off waivers Tuesday, adding to a running back room that continues to impress.

Cincinnati used two of their 10 draft picks on running backs behind Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, adding Texas A&M’s Trayveon Williams and Oklahoma’s Rodney Anderson.

Here are some fast facts about Hall, who comes in and will compete for a roster spot over the summer:

The numbers: A four-year player at Pittsburgh, Hall is a career 5.7 per-carry average rusher. He broke out in 2018 with 1,144 yards and 10 touchdowns on a 7.5 average, but wasn’t technically the starter.

The Story: Hall was a college free agent with the Browns but got waived May 3.

Background: Hall played at Youngstown’s Austintown Finch High School in Ohio.

The Grade: NFL.com listed Hall as a 4.94, meaning he should at least be in a training camp.

Scouting Report: From NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein: “Running back prospect with three-down backup size and versatility who is limited by a lack of field vision and cut quickness. Hall is too tight-hipped to be a sudden, one-cut runner on outside zone plays, but he does have the raw build-up speed to take it the distance if he finds wide open daylight. His size, strength and pro day testing give him an outside shot of surprising in camp.”
