Fast and Furious 9 filming gets underway today in these Edinburgh city centre locations

Two city centre streets will be used for Fast and Furious 9 filming from today (Monday).

There are road closures on Waterloo Place and Calton Road as crews responsible for shooting the mega blockbuster movie get to work.

Waterloo Place, at the east end of Princes Street, will be off-limits in its entirety, except for local access from Regent Road to Calton Hill, and Calton Road will be closed between Calton Hill and the entrance to the Waverley Gate car park.

The measures, which were introduced at 6am today, will remain in place until 10pm on Thursday, 12 September.

Parking restrictions are also now in place on George Street and St Andrew Square. The City of Edinburgh Council says that George Square is affected "south side between the blue badge bay outside number 6 and the taxi rank outside number 14 (The Dome)" and on the "north side from the bus stop outside St Andrew's & St George's West church for 40m eastwards, except for Rabbies' tour buses".

We reported last week that filming for the movie will be taking place at various locations across the city until Thursday, 26 September, with around 800 crew members involved.

The movie will star the likes of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and John Cena.
