Fashion Sakala Rangers transfer latest as striker issues cryptic future update

Rangers transfer target Fashion Sakala has refused to rule out staying at KV Oostende.

Steven Gerrard is looking to bring the Zambian striker to Ibrox next season and is chasing a pre-contract deal with the front man.

The 23-year-old has eight goals in 18 games for the Belgian outfit and Rangers have earmarked him as an ideal addition to their squad to complement Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten in attack.

They face competition for Sakala’s signature though, with Belgian big guns Anderlecht interested while Newcastle United and West Ham have also been credited with an interest.

The forward’s pace and versatility make him a man in demand as he can also play out wide as well as through the middle as a traditional striker.

Sakala has 13 cap for his country and played for Russian outfit Spartak Moscow before joining Oostende.

But his future is far from certain, and the striker has now admitted he could well remain with his current club beyond the end of his current contract, which expires in the summer.

And the player has offered them hope of thrashing out a new deal.

He said: t won’t be difficult for KVO to keep me here.

“I’m happy and the team is doing well.

“We’ll see what happens after the season.”
