Fashion Sakala in Rangers transfer roar as incoming star tells Steven Gerrard he's getting a 'top player'

Rangers-bound striker Fashion Sakala marked his Oostende home farewell with a double then declared he's heading to Ibrox in the form of his life.

The Premiership champions have agreed a pre-contract deal for the Zambia international and underlined his quality with two goals against Mechelen at the weekend.

He will sign off from Oostende with a final appearance away at Standard Liege on Saturday and insists he can't wait to get started for Rangers and boss Steven Gerrard.

He said: "It was a great feeling to score two goals in my last game here although it was disappointing to only draw 2-2 and I actually thought I should have scored a hat-trick.

"It was a great way to say goodbye to a club I will forever regard as special.

"This is the club who gave me my chance in Europe. I don't count my time in Russia because I played for the Spartak Moscow reserves.

"In three years here I learned a lot and became a much better player and person. It has been a fantastic journey. The club believed in me and I am leaving as a top player.

"The fans here have been great too. I once missed a penalty away at Anderlecht and the first thing the fans did was sing my name!

"Oostende will always hold a special place in my heart. What they have given me here, I will never forget. It was fantastic. I would advise any players in Africa to come and play here if they ever get the chance. Here they will get opportunities."
