Fashion Sakala and Joey Veerman Rangers transfers addressed by Gerrard as he insists 'I'll be the first to tell you'

Steven Gerrard revealed Rangers are tracking potential signings but insists the timing is not right to comment on individuals.

The Ibrox boss was quizzed over moves for Fashion Sakala and Joey Veerman ahead of the summer window.

The Daily Record this week reported Oostende forward Sakala has been offered a four-year deal by the Premiership champions while Dutch media claim they're in the mix to sign Heerenveen midfielder Veerman.

Gerrard wouldn't name the pair but promised 'I'll be the first to tell you' if and when the transfers are agreed.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's derby clash with Celtic, the Rangers boss said: "There were couple of names a week before and a week before that. If there’s anything to say in terms of ins and outs, I will be the first to tell you.

"We are tracking certain individuals to try and make the group stronger when the window opens. I don’t think it’s the right time to mention individual names or targets that we’re looking at."

Sakala is out of contract at Oostende this summer and looks certain to move on, with Rangers considered favourites to land him.

Veerman, however, recently extended his Heerenveen deal until 2022, with the likes of Stade de Reims and Atalanta also said to be interested in his services.
