Fashion: men at work

How much does your job dictate what you wear?
In my studio I can get covered in dust and mess. In theory, I have work clothes and non-work clothes. In practice, everything gets a bit messy.

What’s the best piece of fashion advice you’ve been given?
Coco Chanel said, “I never wanted to weigh more heavily on a man than a bird.” I used that for the title of a sculpture.

What’s your favourite piece of clothing, and why?
A crimson scarf bought when I was in Tangiers 10 years ago. It’s served as pillow, blanket, napkin, rope…

How much does your job dictate what you wear?
Music and clothes go hand in hand. If I’m listening to rock’n’roll, I’ll wear something to suit that, but if I’m listening to soul, I’ll wear more preppy things, like 60s cardigans and Levi’s cords.

Phillip Schofield, TV presenter
How much does your job dictate what you wear?
Shows like Dancing On Ice require something dressed up, and I do love a tux.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Funnily enough, not many. TV floors are notoriously slippy – the last thing I want to do is go flat on my arse. I do feel quite unnerved in a new pair of shoes on a live show.

Do you have a fashion regret?
I used to wear things that people had knitted for me. That was sweet, but often misguided.
What’s the best piece of fashion advice you’ve been given?
Shut up. Put it on. You look great.

How would you describe your style?
Somewhere between my teenage years and a need to look more sophisticated on professional appointments.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Anywhere between 2,000 and 60, depending on what part of the season it is. I personally own about 60-70 pairs, but I also test drive most of the ones we make.
