ASOS, the online fashion brand, has been blasted by customers after they noticed some of its peculiar size guidelines.
It was revealed that ASOS classes some of its size 14 clothes as 'XL' and shoppers size 16 and over cannot get a bigger size.
Twitter users were shocked that the brand seemingly makes some clothes inaccessible for people above a size 14.
The issue was first spotted by Marina O'Loughlin, who informed other ASOS customers, reports the Manchester Evening News .
Alongside a screengrab of the brand's size guide, she wrote: "Dear @ASOS - since when was a size 14 'XL'??"
The size guide in question calls a size 8 a 'Small', while a size 14 is considered as 'Extra Large'.
After spotting Marina's Tweet, social media users rushed to share their own experiences of sizing issues.
"Since we started believing that size 0 was an actual clothing size. My favourite game is asking for a size 12 in the designer section of the likes of Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. They have no idea how to deal with this request," wrote one.
Another added: "The standard size for a woman now is a 14. Just shows the brands aren’t moving along with the times."
Somebody else simply wrote: "disgraceful."
A fourth Twitter user slammed: "And since when is size 12 large? Just ridiculous."
In a statement to Manchester Evening News , a spokesperson for the brand said: "We offer fashion in over 30 different sizes, reflecting the needs of our diverse, global customer base and our ongoing commitment to promoting a healthy, positive body image.
"Based on the measurements of some of our third party brands, the size XL on this product is equivalent in our sizing chart to a UK 14.”
