Fashion fans say they 'need' these £2k designer Teletubbie boots in their lives

Remember when you were a kid and would want every available piece of merchandise from your favourite TV show? Well this new creation has taken things to a whole new level.

The late 1990s saw the rise of the Teletubbies. The show first aired in 1997 and you'll no doubt recall the teddy version taking over toy shop shelves and those arcade grabber machines.

Kids could get all sorts of Teletubbie-themed merch, for example clothes, toys, pencil cases (which of course contained the matching rubber, pencils, ruler and sharpener).

And now, 25 years later, a British designer has created the latest must-have for millennials, a pair of boots with a Teletubbie sticking out of the top.

Christian Cowan's latest footwear - which will set you back £2,089 - are a homage to Dipsy, the bright green Teletubbie.

The high heel boots come in neon green plush fabric and are part of a range aimed at original fans of the show who are now parents themselves.

"I grew up watching the Teletubbies, so being able to combine that nostalgia with my passion for fashion is a dream come true," said Cowan.

"The characters’ fun, playful personalities match my own design aesthetic, so I’m excited to launch this new collection to show the Teletubbies in a new light and celebrate them as the stars that they are."

As unusual as the boots may be, they appear to have had the desired affect, with many fans taking to Twitter to share their love of the design.

User @illuminousdraw wrote: "I need these in my life," with others including 'Jess' and Milk echoing their 'need' for the boots.

Another posted, "I would fully wear these," with Jessie adding: "These but in Po."

The limited edition Teletubbies collection, which features the characters in signature fashion poses printed on every day "elevated essentials", including hoodies, t-shirt and denim, is now available for purchase on christiancowan.com starting at £163 for a t-shirt featuring Tinky Winky.
