Amanda Wakeley was mugged at axepoint for her watch by moped thugs this morning, her partner has claimed.
The British fashion designer, whose glamorous designs are regularly worn by Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, was in west London when she was stopped by assailants on a moped who threatened her with the metal tool and demanded her valuables.
The culprits had slashed her car tyres beforehand to lure her into looking at the outside of the vehicle so they could strike, Amanda's financial PR adviser partner Hugh Morrison claimed on Instagram .
Sharing a picture of the moped allegedly used in the attack, Hugh wrote: "Urgent. @amandawakeley was mugged this morning for her watch as she was getting into her car. The moped assailants had earlier let down her tyres to make her stop to investigate and came up behind her, threatening her with an axe."
He went on: "She is unhurt but naturally shocked. The police have been amazing but say that this happens 5-6 times every day in RBK&C [Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea] and have asked us to share this.
"There were lots of witnesses and the Police feel that the culprits will be caught. In the meantime, Amanda just wants to share her experience and hopes that everyone stays safe. Xx," Hugh added.
PR expert Dean Piper shared the story to Twitter , telling followers: "ANOTHER story of crime filled London and these t****y biker Bandits.
"Spread the word - new levels today preying on solo women, letting her tyres down and waiting to mug her WITH AN AXE. Terrifying. @SadiqKhan this is YOUR London."
Amanda is far from being the first celebrity mugged by moped thugs in London recently.
Comedian Michael McIntyre was robbed last summer by a gang of assailants while on the school run, and was left shaken after the robbers smashed in the windows of his Range Rover and wrenched his £15,000 Rolex off his wrist.
The robbery happened in broad daylight as Michael waited outside his children's school, and the thugs used a hammer to smash in the windows and threaten the comedian.
