FarrPoint secures four-year deal as consultant on Scotland's 5G strategy

Digital connectivity provider FarrPoint has secured a major four-year contract to support the Scottish Futures Trust as it aims to deliver the Scottish Government’s 5G strategy.

The Edinburgh company won a competitive tender to act as a consultant during the push to provide Scotland with a nationwide broadband and full-fibre network for for the new generation of high-speed internet.

Scottish Futures Trust is the Scottish Government's body of expertise which has been tasked with considering every aspect of digital connectivity, including the infrastructure of fibre, radio sites, data centres and international connectivity, needed to capitalise fully on 5G.

Dr Andrew Muir, CEO of FarrPoint, said “We’re absolutely delighted to have been appointed by Scottish Futures Trust on this major programme of work for Scotland. 5G can support so many new use cases both in urban and rural geographies and the journey is only beginning. That is an exciting and rewarding place to be for our consultants and we really look forward to working with Scottish Futures Trust to support the delivery of the Government's ambition. It’s going to be an exciting ride!”
