Farmland owned by The Kelham Estate in Nottinghamshire goes up for rent for the first time in 45 years

Some 292 acres of arable commercial farm land, owned by the Kelham Estate, is coming up for rent - the first time since the 1970s.

The current tenants of Trentside Farm in Kelham, near Newark, who farmed the predominantly arable land are retiring.

It has been 45 years since this sizeable block of farmland has been available to let. It is now being offered on a five-year Farm Business Tenancy, starting from Monday, September 30.

Classified as Grades 2 and 3, the good quality arable land could offer an opportunity for expansion for a nearby farmer.

Emma Caudwell of Savills' Lincoln-based rural management team said: "With generous sized fields and a range of modern and traditional buildings that are easily accessible from the village, this is a good chance for a local farmer to expand. The land is versatile and can be used for root crops.”

The farm is situated by the Trent with the main block of land to the east of the river and a small area running along its western bank. A five-bedroom farmhouse may be available by separate negotiation after it has been fully refurbished. The work is scheduled for late 2019.

The land is being offered by informal tender so bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked ‘Tender Trentside Farm’ and addressed to Emma Caudwell, Savills (UK) Ltd, Olympic House, Doddington Road, Lincoln, LN6 3SE by 12noon on Friday, August 16, 2019.
