Farmers urged to help Durham police trace Bishop Auckland man missing for three months

Farmers across the North East are being urged to check whether a missing Bishop Auckland man could be working on their farm.

Norman Lamb, also known as Peter, went missing more than three months ago and has not been seen since.

The last known sighting of Peter was at Sainsbury’s in St Helen Auckland at 10.13am on Tuesday, June 29. He went missing six hours later.

Officers investigating his disappearance are now asking farmers and landowners in the area whether they have employed the 51-year-old on a board and lodgings basis.

Inspector Adam Norris, from Durham Constabulary, said: “Peter’s family have not seen or heard from him for more than three months – he appears to have just vanished and his family is understandably devastated at his disappearance.

“We are asking farmers and landowners to check whether they have employed him on a board and lodging basis. This would allow him to receive an income and accommodation while essentially remaining under the radar.

“We have carried out an extensive and thorough investigation to try and trace Peter, but have so far found no signs which indicate where he is.

“If anybody knows where Peter is, or has any information that may help our investigation, please get in touch.”

Peter is 6ft 2inches tall, with brown eyes and dark thinning hair.

It is believed he was wearing a dark blue or black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black trainers when he went missing.

Anyone who has any information on Peter’s whereabouts should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 28 of June 30.
