Farmers start for Delhi protest site

Amid the stalemate over the farm laws, another batch of farmers and farm labourers from Punjab under the banner of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee (KMSC) have started their march on vehicles for the State borders of Delhi.

The batch with around 300 vehicles started from Amritsar and would reach the Delhi border at Singhu- Kundli by July 6.

“The farmers and farm labourers in this batch are mainly from Amritsar district. As many farmers are busy in paddy sowing, the number of people will increase in the next few days. In the coming days, farmers from Gurdaspur, Kapurthala and Tarn Taran districts will also leave for Delhi. This is our 19th batch,” said Sarvan Singh Pandher, general secretary, KMSC — a prominent outfit at the forefront of the agitation.

Mr. Pandher said farmers are marching on tractor-trolleys, two-wheelers, cars, vans etc. He said once the paddy sowing operations are over, several farmers from across the State will start heading towards Delhi so that the number of protesters at the agitation sites keeps growing.
