JIND: After farmers’ talks with Karnal district administration failed on Wednesday, Haryana farmers now planned to adopt the same method of shift system that is being adopted at Delhi borders b Punjab and Haryana farmers in Karnal too. Farmers have asked their counterparts to be on high alert and be prepared to stay alternative days in Karnal.
Thousands of farmers have been protesting in front of mini secretariat of Karnal district on Tuesday by breaking over half of dozens of barricading, seeking action against sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Ayush Sinha who ordered to smash heads of farmers directly and lathicharge on farmers on August 28 leaving over 10 farmers injured.
Farmers have alleged that one farmer identified as Sushil Kajal was seriously injured and later died due to cardiac arrest. They are also seeking Rs 25 lakh compensation and a government job for his family members and financial aid for the injured as well.
Farmers in Jind district already gave a call on Wednesday to ensure presence in Karnal, which is near Jind. Moreover, farmers who have not returned from Karnal are claiming that they are ready to stage one more dharna in the district.
Jind district BKU (Charuni) Azad Palwan said, “We have been camping at Delhi borders since November 27 along with Punjab farmers and if Karnal needs us, we will stay over there. If farmers step down this time, the Khattar led BJP-JJP government will try to suppress the agitation by breaking the heads of farmers in future as well.
We have asked our fellow farmers to make shifts like they made for Delhi and reach Karnal as well as toll plazas of Haryana. The Karnal incident has only made us stronger, therefore BJP-JJP government should not be in any illusion that farmers will go bac before their demands are met. The over nine months old agitation against three farm laws have taught us to stay for long and tents have been pitched in Karnal’s mini secretariat.”
Meanwhile, even as scores of farmers have gone to Karnal, it has been ensured that both the toll plazas — Khatkar toll on Jind-Patiala-Delhi highway in Uchana Kalan town, represented by Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala and Baddowal toll on Hisar-Jind-Chandigarh highway in Narwana town — have enough representation too. Farmers also said if action is taken in Karnal, then reaction will be seen in the Bangar belt of Haryana by blocking roads for indefinite time.
