AMRITSAR: A 45-year-old farmer died early Saturday morning in front of the house of BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Shwait Malik, where they were holding a dharna to demand the repeal of the three agriculture marketing laws. Angrej Singh is survived by his wife, mother and two children.
Kirti Kisan Union state press secretary Jatinder Singh Chinna said around 2.30am, Angrej got up to answer nature’s call and went back to sleep again. Around 5.30am, another protester tried to awaken him but he remained unresponsive. He said Angrej was a dedicated member of the Union and was at the forefront of their struggle.
The farm activists’ organisation has condemned the MP for his apathy. “At least for the sake of humanity, the MP should have condoled his death,” said Chinna. TNN
