Farm laws: SAD to observe Sep 17 as black day

BATHINDA: A day after farmer organisations of Punjab asked political parties to stop campaigning till elections are announced, Shiromani Akali Dal has decided to observe September 17 as black day.

It was on this day that the central farm laws were passed in Lok Sabha and angered over it the then Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had resigned from the Union cabinet.

The SAD in its core committee meeting on Saturday decided to take out a big protest march from Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib in Delhi to Parliament.

The core committee meeting was held with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal in the chair.

SAD also stated that with farm organisations asking political parties not to go in for campaigning will hurt the most to Akali Dal as BJP has government in the centre, Congress has its government in Punjab and Aam Aadmi Party has its government in Delhi, these parties can contribute campaign through the government programmes but as SAD is in opposition it will fail to go to the people and this will have to face hard times.

SAD stated that it is fully with the farmers in their protest against central government for bringing anti farmer laws.
