A Halewood farm which was turned into a house of multiple occupation has now become a holiday retreat after plans were approved.
The owners of Brook House Farm on Lower Lane in Halewood applied to Knowsley Council earlier this year for permission to change the use of a building on the farm from a seven bedroom house of multiple occupation (HMO) to an eight bedroom holiday home.
The owners were given permission last year to convert the farm building into a seven bedroom HMO. Permission was also granted at that time for a single story extension on to the back of the property, which has parking bays for 8 cars.

Alongside creating an additional bedroom, the change of use will mean three more people being allowed to stay in the property – changing from 19 adults to 22.
According to a planning officer’s report, one of the bedrooms would normally be classed as too small to be habitable, but is “acceptable” for short term use.
The application was for retrospective permission, meaning the owners are already using the property, which sits in 78 acres of land, as a holiday let.
This has been the case, according to documents submitted by the farm’s owners, since the previous planning permission was granted in June 2021.
Planning officers said that while the property sits in greenbelt land, the proposed change of use has no material impact on the greenbelt, nor is the property visible from the road and overall the plans are “acceptable.”
