Farhan Akhtar mourns the death of Indian student in shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv

Amid the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, an Indian student was killed in the eastern region of Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv due to heavy shelling by Russian arm forces on Tuesday.

Mourning the unfortunate loss of the young Karnataka-medical student, actor Farhan Akhtar took to his Twitter handle and extended condolences. He tweeted, “An Indian student is now a casualty of the Ukraine invasion .. feel terrible for the family .. deepest condolences.. hope we can get all our citizens home safe and soon (sic).”

Only an hour ago, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officially confirmed the death. “With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family,” read their official statement.

“Foreign Secretary is calling in Ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine to reiterate our demand for urgent safe passage for Indian nationals who are still in Kharkiv and cities in other conflict zones. Similar action is also being undertaken by our Ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine,” further updated MEA.

This marks the first Indian casualty in the Ukraine-Russia war.

Meanwhile, several other Bollywood celebrities are also closely tracking the ongoing hostile situation between Ukraine and Russia.

“My heart goes out the the innocent people #Ukraine Leading quiet, happy family lives; they did nothing to deserve this destruction. Putin is a tyrant.. a born-again Hitler. May he deserve the same fate…(sic)” previously tweeted Simi Garewal.
