Farhad Moshiri has spoken about Marcel Brands as the director of football nears signing a new contract with Everton.
The former PSV chief made the move to Merseyside in the summer of 2018 and got straight to work in changing the make-up of the Blues squad - signing Richarlison, Lucas Digne, Bernard, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes on loan in that first summer.
Brands' contract is set to run out at the end of the current campaign.
But the ECHO understands that terms of an extension are close to being agreed.
The Dutchman has a strong working relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, with a strong summer of recruitment between the pair.
And Moshiri knows that is an important aspect for the future.
The Everton majority shareholder in a rare interview spoke about the long process that is just getting started at Goodison, and how Brands will remain central to that in the future.
Moshiri told talkSPORT : "As director of football, the most important thing is experience, honesty and bringing stability to long-term recruitment.
"He brings those in.
"Football clubs are as good as recruiting the players that they bring in, and he is close to the manager.
"And altogether we're happy with him and he's happy at the club.
"So I think it's been good for us, but this is just the beginning. It's a long process."
