Farhad Moshiri set to increase Everton stake as investment hits £400m

Farhad Moshiri could take his Everton shareholding to over 90% after a proposal from the club's board of directors.

Moshiri currently owns 77.2% of the club but could take his stake at Goodison to 93.3% with an investment of £250m.

The Blues are proposing to create new shares and some of that money would see current loans converted into capital but a chunk of that eye-watering figure will come into the club in the form of new cash.

Everton say the fresh money will significantly strengthen the club's balance sheet.

This evening the club revealed record losses of nearly £140m in the last financial year with the impact of the Covid pandemic being totalled at £67.3m for that period.

Moshiri's stunning commitment at Everton continues with the release of the 2019-20 accounts this evening confirming the billionaire's investment to the end of June was £350m.

He pumped in another £50m post year end and the club have confirmed that he is likely to plough another £50m before the end of the season.

Shareholders will receive a letter detailing the proposal in "due course".

Chairman Bill Kenwright currently owns 5% of shares, with 'Other shareholders' holding 17.7% of the club's shares.
