Farhad Moshiri gives backing to Frank Lampard and Everton board

Farhad Moshiri insists he retains faith in Frank Lampard and Everton's board of directors in a fresh letter to supporters.

Moshiri has tonight responded to the Everton Fans' Forum following their open letter last week, and revealed he has "faith" in the "depth and quality" of the work being done by Lampard and the club’s hierarchy. Moshiri’s letter comes just over a week after the position of his manager and members of the club’s board came under major scrutiny.

Lampard’s future as Everton manager was thrown into doubt following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park last Tuesday. However, the Blues boss remained in charge for Friday’s FA Cup loss to Manchester United.

Boos and shouts of 'sack the board' rang out around Goodison during the second half and following the full-time whistle against Brighton before more shouts of 'sack the board' were heard during Friday’s game at Old Trafford.

Dozens of supporter groups have also publicly backed calls for changes in the boardroom. A protest has been organised to take place after the final whistle following Saturday’s home game against Southampton.

But despite the mounting pressure from supporters, Moshiri tonight came out and revealed his faith is based on the work being done at Finch Farm and the Royal Liver Building.

“I have faith in the work being done not only by our manager [Frank Lampard], but our Director of Football [Kevin Thelwell] and our board of directors,” he wrote in his open letter.

“That faith is based on my knowledge of the depth and quality of work being done both at Finch Farm and the Royal Liver Building - and of the plan that is in place.

“I am confident that we have skilled, experienced and focused professionals at all levels of the Club. We are all agreed that our current league position must and will improve.”
