Farhad Moshiri general meeting absence explained with 'deep discussions' over Everton new stadium

Farhad Moshiri is absent from tonight's General Meeting because he is on new stadium business.

Everton's majority shareholder was expected at the Philharmonic Hall this evening but chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale explained why he was missing.

Moshiri is tonight in "deep discussions" with a potential investor over the club's proposed new home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton are expected to find the bulk of the anticipated £500m construction costs from the private sector and Moshiri is, this evening, in talks with an institution over potentially loaning the club the funds needed for construction.

Marcel Brands, meanwhile, has been reappointed to the board of directors but what seemed like a mere formality was met with an objection from one shareholder.

But after the matter was put to a vote, the director of football was reappointed to the board having been put on it 12 months ago.
