Far-right EDL founder Tommy Robinson confronted by activist calling him 'Nazi'

Far-right EDL founder Tommy Robinson was confronted by an activist who called him a 'Nazi'.

Robinson was campaigning in Barrow-in-Furness to become an Independent MEP for North West England yesterday - when Paul Jenkins, 50, took a stand.

Paul, from Kilmarnock, Scotland, was filmed standing against the hopeful politician using a megaphone blaring out "Tommy is a Nazi" as Robinson, real name Steven Yaxley-Lennon, was walking down the street.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Paul, from Unite Against Fascism and Stand Up To Racsim, said: "It is vital that we oppose those like Tommy Robinson.

"It's important for us to come out and stand up to him on the street.

"But we are also in a critical position in the north-west in that there is a real danger he might win a seat here in the European elections."

Activists from Unite Against Fascism and Stand Up To Racsim were out to air their grievances with Robinson, with many enjoying and filming the encounter with Paul.

They wrote: "Well done to Stand Up to Racism activists in Barrow-on-Furness calling out # TommyRobinson for the fascist he is.

"From Barrow to Brighton we’re taking on the Nazis."

At one point, Robinson could be seen slipping a campaign leaflet into Paul's jacket during the stand-off.

Paul added: "As with all fascists they tried to be aggressive during our counter protest but I wasn't alone - we had strength in numbers.

Protester who threw milkshake over Tommy Robinson says he's had death threats

"It is so incredibly important that we are able to stand up to these types of people and so far the response has been fantastic.

"We had a lot of young people there - there was probably around 150 on our side."

The incident comes just over two weeks after Robinson was targeted twice in the same number of days with milkshakes while on the campaign trail.

In the filmed exchange, many locals could be heard applauding after Robinson was drenched by the milkshake, which resulted in a brawl.
