A far-right bigot has been humiliated at the polls after attempting to become an MSP.
Jayda Fransen's electoral effort ended in failure as she won a paltry 46 votes in Glasgow Southside just hours after she confronted Nicola Sturgeon while out campaigning.
In January it was revealed Fransen - who has convictions for religiously aggravated harassment - intended to make an effort at the seat, reports the Daily Record.
She then said in a statement: “I am going to be standing in the Scottish elections in May against these SNP commie, Marxists, naughty people.”
Speaking after the result was announced, Sturgeon condemned Fransen.
The SNP leader said: "Yesterday the constituency was targeted by far-right thugs, the far-right thug that led that confrontation got 46 votes, and I am proud that once again that Glasgow Southside has shown the racists and the fascists that they are not welcome in Glasgow Southside, they are not welcome in Glasgow and they are not welcome anywhere in Scotland.
"And let that be a note of unity."
Fransen had approached the First Minister as she left a polling station on Thursday.
Footage of the incident was shared online and shows the former deputy leader of the Britain First movement shouting at the SNP leader as she speaks to party volunteers.
The red-headed Fransen shouts: "Nicola, how are you?"
Sturgeon replies: "Hi, I'm sorry."
Fransen asks: "What you sorry for?"
"Because you're a fascist and a racist," Sturgeon says.
Fransen today failed to attract more votes than the 56 she received in the 2014 Rochester and Strood by-election, when she was outpolled by the Monster Raving Loony Party.
Sturgeon had told the bigot yesterday: "We'll see the locals view later on. You're a racist. You're a fascist, a racist and the Southside of Glasgow will reject you."
