In Fantasy Premier League, a Free Hit can help transform your team. But only for a short period.
The Free Hit is one of your chips, alongside the Wildcard, the Triple Captain and Bench Boost. But when should players be looking to use it?
Fear not, we have a complete guide ahead of the 2025/26 season. It can be a lifesaver in FPL...
FPL: How a Free Hit works in Fantasy Premier League

A Free Hit can be used to make as many FPL transfers as you want. It only lasts for a week, however, as your team will revert to how it looked the previous week beforehand.
You can use it once a season to make unlimited transfers to your 15-man squad, and like the Wildcard, the Free Hit is used when confirming transfers. It cannot be cancelled once it has been confirmed.
Any free transfers you’ve already made for that gameweek will be forfeited. You'll then receive the usual one free transfer for the next gameweek, as your squad reverts to its original state, and price changes remain unaffected by using the Free Hit option.
So when should you use your Free Hit? That’s entirely up to you. Some managers opt to use the chip for a change of pace for a week, while others wait for a double gameweek to bring in players who will play twice in that designated week period.
Injuries and suspensions can also severely impact your squad, making the Free Hit invaluable. This chip is useful for short-term strategies. While much of FPL involves planning for future gameweeks, the Free Hit allows you to focus solely on the upcoming gameweek for immediate benefits, for example, if a key player picks up an injury.
