Fantasy Premier League 2019-20 champion stripped of title after 'rule breach'

The winner of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2019-20 has been stripped of the title after being found to have broken the rules.

Aleksandar Antonov finished a unique season with 2,572 points after Gameweek 38+, beating 7,628,9687 rivals to the top spot, having overtaken Joshua Bull with a 93-points return on the final day.

However, Southampton fan Bull has been announced as the 2019-20 champion "following end-of-season checks" after "the team formerly occupying the No 1 position has been removed from FPL due to a breach of our terms."

The prize for winning FPL is VIP access to two Premier League matches for next season, with all travel and accommodation paid for.

Antonov's team entry has been deleted from the Fantasy Premier League website, with his overall rank reading as "zero".

Bull tweeted on Tuesday morning: "For everyone tweeting, I don't know what's going on either - I had an email from FPL this morning telling me that I've won(!), but I don't know why."

He followed up with: "(...and to address the obvious - clearly this isn't how I would have wanted to win, and I don't know any more than the rest of you about what's happened!)"
