Fantasy Football Week 16: Start and Sit

Here's a look back at Week 15's action, and fantasy advice for the week ahead:

WEEK 15 RECAP

Chiefs 34, Chargers 28 (OT): Justin Jackson leads Los Angeles in red-zone carries (nine) over the last two games. He also has 24 touches over that span compared to Austin Ekeler's 32, who has been banged-up recently.

Colts 27, Patriots 17: Hunter Henry was TE11 in standard leagues headed into Week 15. He finished with 77 yards on six receptions and two touchdowns.

Bills 31, Panthers 14: Gabriel Davis has 12 receptions (19 receptions) for 158 yards and four touchdowns the last three games.

Lions 30, Cardinals 12: Amon-Ra St. Brown has at least 73 yards, 11 targets and eight receptions in three straight games and two touchdowns over that span.

Dolphins 31, Jets 24: Myles Gaskin was active and Duke Johnson still ran for 107 yards on 22 carries and scored twice. It's not surprising a Bill Belichick disciple would make it hard to get a read on his backfield.

Cowboys 21, Giants 6: It hasn't been pretty most weeks, but Ezekiel Elliott is still the overall RB7 across all formats, despite not surpassing 69 rushing yards since Week 5.

Steelers 19, Titans 13: Julio Jones' hamstring just isn't right and he can't be trusted for the rest of this season.

Texans 30, Jaguars 16: Laquon Treadwell leads Jacksonville in targets (28) and receiving yards (240) over the last four weeks.

Bengals 15, Broncos 10: Cincinnati's top three wide receivers have all been top-22 options in standard leagues the last three games, but the order might surprise you: Tee Higgins (WR10), Tyler Boyd (WR16) and Ja'Marr Chase (WR22).

49ers 31, Falcons 13: Since Week 11, Russell Gage is WR6 in PPR formats with 34 receptions (45 targets) for 396 yards and two touchdowns.

Packers 31, Ravens 30: Mark Andrews needs three touchdowns to set a career-high (he had 10 in 2019). Andrews has already set career marks in receptions (85), targets (122) and yards (1,062).

Saints 9, Buccaneers 0: A hamstring injury will likely sideline Leonard Fournette for a few games, setting up Ronald Jones as a high-volume option with matchups against the Panthers and Jets the next two weeks.

Raiders 16, Browns 14: D'Ernest Johnson only has value when both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are out. He's only totaled 23 touches in four games replacing an injured Hunt.

Vikings 17, Bears 9: Justin Fields has finished as a top-10 option at quarterback in four of his last five games.

Rams 20, Seahawks 10: Let's take a moment to celebrate Cooper Kupp's historic season so far. Kupp has at least seven receptions AND 92 yards in 13 of 14 games. He has scored a touchdown in nine of 14 with multiple scores in five games. Kupp deserves to be in the discussion for top overall pick next season.

Eagles 27, Football Team 17: Dallas Goedert is TE4 across all formats since Zach Ertz was traded to Arizona.

Here's my best bets for Week 16:

CLEVELAND AT GREEN BAY

Obvious starters: Nick Chubb (CLE), Davante Adams (GB), Aaron Rodgers (GB), Aaron Jones (GB).

Who to start: Jarvis Landry (CLE) maintains WR3/flex value with at least eight targets in five of his last seven games. AJ Dillon (GB) has been a top-12 option across all formats since Week 9. Allen Lazard (GB) deserves flex consideration if Marquez Valdes-Scantling remains on the COVID-19 reserve list — MVS will have WR3/flex upside if he does return.

Who to sit: Austin Hooper (CLE) and David Njoku (CLE) are both touchdown-dependent. The Browns D/ST likely only makes sense in DFS. Donovan Peoples-Jones (CLE) remains a boom-or-bust option. The Packers D/ST have allowed at least 28 points in four straight games.

Sleeper: Baker Mayfield (CLE) is a sneaky streaming option against a defense that has allowed 1,082 passing yards and 10 touchdowns to quarterbacks the last four games.

INDIANAPOLIS AT ARIZONA

Obvious starters: Jonathan Taylor (IND), Michael Pittman Jr. (IND), Colts D/ST, Kyler Murray (ARI), Zach Ertz (ARI).

Who to start: Carson Wentz (IND) deserves streaming consideration against a defense that has allowed eight touchdowns to quarterbacks the last three games. James Conner (ARI) will likely maintain his touchdown equity if he's active. Chase Edmonds (ARI) deserves flex consideration, but will have RB2 upside if Conner is out. Christian Kirk (ARI)maintains WR3/flex upside with DeAndre Hopkins sidelined for the rest of the regular season — Kirk has at least four receptions or a touchdown in nine of 14 games. AJ Green (ARI) deserves flex consideration with at least four receptions, seven targets and 64 yards in three of the last four games.

Who to sit: Nyheim Hines (IND) only has value in the deepest PPR formats. I'm fading the Cardinals D/ST against a very efficient offense. Rondale Moore (ARI) hasn't surpassed 10 receiving yards in four of the last five games.

Sleeper: TY Hilton (IND) faces a defense that has allowed 50 receptions, 561 yards and six touchdowns to wide receivers in the last three games.

DETROIT AT ATLANTA

Obvious starters: Cordarrelle Patterson (ATL), Kyle Pitts (ATL).

Who to start: D'Andre Swift (DET) is an obvious start if he's active. Only Cooper Kupp and Justin Jefferson has outperformed Amon-Ra St. Brown (DET) in PPR formats since Week 13. Russell Gage (ATL) has at least four receptions or a touchdown in eight of his last nine games.

Who to sit: Jamaal Williams (DET) and Craig Reynolds (DET) only maintain flex value if Swift remains out for a fourth straight game. Mike Davis (ATL) remains touchdown-dependent while failing to surpass 41 total yards in six of the last nine games. Matt Ryan (ATL) only has three touchdown passes since Week 10.

Sleeper: Josh Reynolds (DET) has been WR16 across all formats since Week 12 and the Falcons have been generous to wide receivers in fantasy all season.

BALTIMORE AT CINCINNATI

Obvious starters: Mark Andrews (BAL), Marquise Brown (BAL), Joe Mixon (CIN), Ja'Marr Chase (CIN), Tee Higgins (CIN), Joe Burrow (CIN).

Who to start: You're starting Lamar Jackson (BAL)if he's active, otherwise Tyler Huntley (BAL) will be a solid streaming option. Tyler Boyd (CIN) has 14 receptions (18 targets) for 236 yards and a touchdown the last three games. The Bengals D/ST are a solid streaming option — opposing defenses have generated 27 sacks, 12 turnovers and three touchdowns against the Ravens since Week 9.

Who to sit: Devonta Freeman (BAL) and Latavius Murray (BAL) are both touchdown-dependent options this week. I'm fading the Ravens D/STagainst an offense that scored 41 on them earlier this season. Rashod Bateman (BAL) is a boom-or-bust option with two-or-fewer targets in two of the last three games.

Sleeper: CJ Uzomah (CIN) faces a defense that has allowed at least five receptions or a touchdown to tight ends in 11 of 14 games.

L.A. RAMS AT MINNESOTA

Obvious starters: Cooper Kupp (LAR), Matthew Stafford (LAR), Justin Jefferson (MIN), Alexander Mattison (MIN).

Who to start: Sony Michel (LAR) and Darrell Henderson Jr. (LAR) are both solid flex options with Michel acting as the 1a to Henderson's 1b. Both Odell Beckham Jr. (LAR) and Van Jefferson (LAR) have WR3/flex upside with this premium matchup. Adam Thielen (MIN)is an obvious start if he's active. Kirk Cousins (MIN) is QB3 since Week 9.

Who to sit: I'm fading the Rams D/ST because opposing defenses have only scored double-digit points against the Vikings once this season. Tyler Conklin (MIN) is touchdown-dependent with two-or-fewer receptions in three of the last four games.

Sleeper: KJ Osborn (MIN) would once again deserve flex consideration if Thielen is out for the third straight game.

BUFFALO AT NEW ENGLAND

Obvious starters: Josh Allen (BUF), Stefon Diggs (BUF), Dawson Knox (BUF), Bills D/ST, Hunter Henry (NE), Patriots D/ST.

Who to start: Damien Harris (NE) ran for 111 yards and a touchdown in 10 carries against the Bills three weeks ago. Jakobi Meyers (NE) maintains flex value in PPR with at least four receptions in 12 of 13 games played this season.

Who to sit: Devin Singletary (BUF) and Zack Moss (BUF) both remain touchdown-dependent. Jonnu Smith (NE) remains touchdown-dependent with a single reception in four of his last five games.

Sleeper: Emmanuel Sanders (BUF) has WR3/flex upside with both Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis on the COVID-19 reserve list.

JACKSONVILLE AT N.Y. JETS

Obvious starters: James Robinson (JAX).

Who to start: Michael Carter (NYJ) deserves flex consideration with at least 65 total yards or a touchdown in seven of his last eight games. The Jaguars D/STand Jets D/ST are solid streaming options if you're desperate.

Who to sit: Marvin Jones Jr. (JAX) remains a boom-or-bust option. Trevor Lawrence (JAX) has failed to throw a touchdown pass in six of the last seven games. Tevin Coleman (NYJ) is touchdown-dependent with Carter healthy.

Sleeper(s): James O'Shaughnessy (JAX) has 21 targets the last four games and faces a defense that has allowed at least four receptions or a touchdown to tight ends in nine of the last 10. Braxton Berrios (NYJ) faces a defense that has allowed seven touchdowns to wide receivers in the last five games and Jamison Crowder is likely out.

N.Y. GIANTS AT PHILADELPHIA

Obvious starters: Saquon Barkley (NYG), Jalen Hurts (PHI), Dallas Goedert (PHI), Miles Sanders (PHI), Eagles D/ST.

Who to start: DeVonta Smith (PHI) deserves flex consideration against a defense that has allowed multiple touchdowns to wide receivers in three of the last five games.

Who to sit: Kenny Golladay (NYG) hasn't surpassed three receptions since Week 4 and has yet to score a touchdown for the Giants. Devontae Booker (NYG) only has flex value in the deepest standard leagues. Jordan Howard (PHI) is a touchdown-dependent option despite double-digit carries in his last five games.

Sleeper: Evan Engram (NYG) faces a defense that has allowed at least one touchdown to tight ends in nine of the last 12 games.

TAMPA BAY AT CAROLINA

Obvious starters: Tom Brady (TB), Rob Gronkowski (TB), Buccaneers D/ST, DJ Moore (CAR).

Who to start: Antonio Brown (TB) has at least seven receptions, 63 yards or a touchdown in four of his five games played this season. A potentially heavy workload makes Ronald Jones (TB) a premium flex option against a defense that has allowed four touchdowns to running backs in the last three games.

Who to sit: Chuba Hubbard (CAR) is a touchdown-dependent option against such a dominant run defense. Robby Anderson (CAR) remains a boom-or-bust option. I'm fading the Panthers D/ST against Brady. Cam Newton (CAR) is a risky play with Sam Darnold expecting to receive time under center as well.

Sleeper: Ameer Abdullah (CAR) is the clear receiving back for the Panthers and will likely see enough targets against the Buccaneers to be relevant in deeper PPR formats.

L.A. CHARGERS AT HOUSTON

Obvious starters: Justin Herbert (LAC), Keenan Allen (LAC), Chargers D/ST.

Who to start: Mike Williams (LAC) maintains his WR3/flex upside with at least six targets in six straight games. Brandin Cooks (HOU) is an obvious start if he's activated off the COVID-19 reserve list.

Who to sit: Jared Cook (LAC) is touchdown-dependent having failed to surpass three receptions or 32 yards in seven of the last eight games. Rex Burkhead (HOU) has surpassed 50 total yards only twice this season and hasn't scored since Week 8.

Sleeper(s): Justin Jackson (LAC) faces a defense that has allowed seven touchdowns to running backs in the last four games and Austin Ekeler is currently on the COVID-19 reserve list. Brevin Jordan (HOU) faces a defense that has allowed 12 touchdowns to tight ends in 14 games this season.

CHICAGO AT SEATTLE

Obvious starters: David Montgomery (CHI), DK Metcalf (SEA), Tyler Lockett (SEA), Russell Wilson (SEA).

Who to start: Darnell Mooney (CHI) has at least five receptions or a touchdown in 10 of 14 games this season. Rashaad Penny (SEA) deserves flex consideration with double-digit touches in three straight games. The Seahawks D/ST is a solid streaming option at home against an offense that has committed at least three turnovers in three straight games.

Who to sit: This is a bad matchup to trust Gerald Everett (SEA). Adrian Peterson (SEA) remains touchdown-dependent since he's surpassed 21 rushing yards once in his four games this season.

Sleeper: Cole Kmet (CHI) is TE9 in PPR formats with 20 receptions (32 targets) since Week 12.

PITTSBURGH AT KANSAS CITY

Obvious starters: Najee Harris (PIT), Diontae Johnson (PIT), Patrick Mahomes (KC).

Who to start: Travis Kelce (KC) and Tyreek Hill (KC) are obvious starts if they're activated off the COVID-19 reserve list. Clyde Edwards-Helaire (KC) faces a defense that has allowed nine touchdowns in the last six games to running backs. The Chiefs D/ST are the fourth-best option in fantasy since Week 9.

Who to sit: Chase Claypool (PIT) is a boom-or-bust option with three-or-fewer receptions in seven of his 12 games this season. I'm fading the Steelers D/ST against Mahomes, unless Kelce and Hill are out. I'm fading Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) on the road against a hot defense. Darrel Williams (KC) is touchdown-dependent with eight-or-fewer touches in four straight games.

Sleeper(s): Mecole Hardman (KC) and Byron Pringle (KC) will both deserve flex consideration if Kelce and Hill are both out.

DENVER AT LAS VEGAS

Obvious starters: Josh Jacobs (LV), Hunter Renfrow (LV).

Who to start: Javonte Williams (DEN) and Melvin Gordon (DEN) remain premium flex options with upside against a defense that has allowed seven touchdowns to running backs in the last five games. Noah Fant (DEN) faces a defense that has allowed a touchdown to tight ends in 10 of the last 11 games. Jerry Jeudy (DEN) deserves flex consideration in PPR with at least four receptions in six of eight games played this season.

Who to sit: Courtland Sutton (DEN) hasn't surpassed two receptions or 40 yards since Week 7. Derek Carr (LV) has seven touchdowns against six interceptions since Week 9. I'm fading Foster Moreau (LV) against a defense that has only allowed a single touchdown to tight ends this season. Both Bryan Edwards (LV) and DeSean Jackson (LV) remain boom-or-bust options.

Sleeper: The Broncos D/ST has allowed more than 17 points once in the last eight games.

WASHINGTON AT DALLAS

Obvious starters: Ezekiel Elliott (DAL), Dak Prescott (DAL), CeeDee Lamb (DAL), Amari Cooper (DAL), Daulton Schultz (DAL), Cowboys D/ST.

Who to start: Despite the mixed results this season, it's hard to bench Terry McLaurin (WAS). Michael Gallup (DAL) is WR32 in standard leagues since Week 10 — WR24 in PPR. Tony Pollard (DAL) maintains his flex value with at least 68 total yards in his last five games.

Who to sit: Injuries are finally starting to take its toll on Antonio Gibson (WAS). Taylor Heinicke (WAS) has one-or-fewer touchdown passes in seven of the last nine games. Ricky Seals-Jones (WAS) is a touchdown-dependent option this week.

Sleeper: Jaret Patterson (WAS) could be the lottery ticket you're seeking if Gibson is out — Patterson is averaging 6.1 yards per carry the last two weeks with one touchdown in a reserve role.

MIAMI AT NEW ORLEANS

Obvious starters: Jaylen Waddle (MIA), Mike Gesicki (MIA), Dolphins D/ST, Alvin Kamara (NO), Saints D/ST.

Who to start: DeVante Parker (MIA) has at least four receptions or a touchdown in all seven games he's played this season.

Who to sit: I'm fading Myles Gaskin (MIA) against a defense that has allowed a single touchdown to running backs since Week 7. It's hard to trust Duke Johnson (MIA) in the semifinals, but DFS could be another story. Mark Ingram (NO)remains touchdown-dependent. Marquez Callaway (NO) remains a boom-or-bust option.

Sleeper: Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) is QB11 since Week 6 and he essentially missed two games during that span.
