Fantasy football waiver wire: Should you keep or cut these 7 players ahead of Week 9?

You’re waking up on Tuesday reading all that you can about the players that you should be picking up off the waiver wire as you prepare for Week 9 of fantasy football in 2022.

But it’s likely there aren’t as many things written about who you should be dropping to grab those players. That’s what this weekly column — keep ’em or dump ’em! — will hopefully answer for you: Some help in the debate over who you should keep or drop in order to improve your team.

It’s a decent waiver wire week, so let’s dive in to help you with who to keep or drop:

1
RB Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco 49ers

This is a trade deadline special — if he doesn’t get dealt by the Niners ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, feel free to let him go.

VERDICT: Drop him

2
RB A.J. Dillon, Green Bay Packers

I’m serious — I’ve seen some managers drop him in leagues I’m in. He ended up with a decent game against the Bills, with 10 carries for 54 yards.

The volume is gone, but he’s got RB1-level stuff if Aaron Jones goes down.

VERDICT: Keep him

3
RB J.D. McKissic, Washington Commanders

He’s gotten squeezed out of work thanks to Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson sharing the top workload for the Commanders.

VERDICT: Drop him

4
RB Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams

SIGH. So: Kyren Williams looms, Ronnie Rivers (!) got eight carries last week and Malcolm Brown is hanging around.

And yet! You maybe have to wait a week to see how this situation plays out, but I’m also totally fine with dropping him since Williams may be back any day now.

VERDICT: Drop him

5
RB Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

D’Onta Foreman has exploded, but I still wonder if Hubbard has a place in this offense to catch passes.

VERDICT: Keep him

6
QB Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

The offense is stuck, the O-line’s struggling … I’d be totally fine with dropping him.

VERDICT: Drop him

7
WR Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

It’s not just the injury. Even when he comes back, will he have a huge role in an offense that passes a lot to Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave?

I guess if you can hold on, see what happens.

VERDICT: Keep him
