Fantasy football scout tips gameweek 29: Gonzalo Higuain, James Maddison, Luke Shaw and more

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain has not exactly hit the ground running at Chelsea but perhaps, after Wednesday’s win over Tottenham, fortunes are changing in west London.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are worthy of consideration for fantasy managers as they are one of only two top teams with a fixture in upcoming blank gameweek 31.

Their fixtures are also becoming more favourable too, starting with a trip to Fulham on Sunday, who have just sacked Claudio Ranieri.

Higuain’s two league goals so far came against one doomed side in Huddersfield Town. Perhaps he will add to his tally against another at Craven Cottage.

James Maddison

An early season favourite of ours, James Maddison’s appeal diminished over the winter as Leicester became the top-flight’s least predictable side.

But with Claude Puel dismissed and Brendan Rodgers through the door, a talented No 10 like Maddison suddenly becomes a prospect again.

It remains to be seen how Rodgers’ Leicester set up, so it makes sense to be patient, but a meeting with Watford fresh from their thrashing at Anfield could be profitable.

Luke Shaw

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United continue to provide a steady stream of points and one cheap route into the side is Luke Shaw.

The £5.1m full-back registered an assist in Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace, and that after three clean sheets in three games.

Another is expected this weekend when the struggling Southampton, his former club, visit Old Trafford. The Saints having only scored 13 goals on the road all season.

Ashley Barnes

For the first time in five gameweeks, Ashley Barnes drew a blank against Newcastle after this column tipped him to continue his run of scoring.

Our fault. But the Burnley striker can return to form when Sean Dyche’s side welcome Crystal Palace to Turf Moor.

Barnes’ ownership remains low and he brings the added appeal of a fixture in the forthcoming blank, against Leicester at home.

Shane Duffy

Against expectation, Huddersfield ended their long winless streak in midweek, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers in west Yorkshire.

But it will take a few more wins for Jan Siewert’s side before we stop targeting their fixtures, especially when they are playing away from home.

Brighton’s decent record at the Amex combined with Huddersfield’s scoring struggles on the road make Shane Duffy a promising one-week pick in defence.

Honourable mentions: Mat Ryan, David Luiz, Paul Pogba, Harvey Barnes, Raul Jimenez.
