The New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday night at MetLife Stadium to open their 2023 regular season schedule.
As usual, there will be plenty of wagering/fantasy interest in the game. It’s tough to decipher as it’s Week 1 and no fresh data to refer to, but here’s a quick look at the top 5 fantasy bargains and steals in the game.
Dallas RB Tony Pollard
Until the Giants can demonstrate they’ve improved their run defense, I’m going to continue to bank on opposing running backs to have success.
Tony Pollard, who held out for more money after being franchise-tagged, is back in the fold and is poised for another solid season. With Ezekiel Elliott gone and no established name behind him on the depth chart, expect the Dallas offense to be centered around Pollard.
Giants WR Jalin Hyatt
Jalin Hyatt is a complete unknown and if you play him this week, you’re just playing a hunch.
The one thing we do know is that the Dallas secondary was ranked 27th against wide receivers last year and Hyatt can outrun 99.9 percent of the league.
Hyatt could make several big plays in this game. The only question is: will the Giants call his number?
Dallas defense
The Giants’ offensive line is still a work in progress and until I start to see them pancake some opponents, I’ll be skeptical they can keep Daniel Jones safe.
I expect the ‘Boys to provide plenty of pressure on Jones in this game, get a few sacks and maybe even force a few turnovers.
Over the last four meetings, Dallas has held the Giants to just 15.5 points per game.
Giants TE Darren Waller
Darren Waller is the biggest addition to a Giants’ offense since Plaxico Burress. He is an instant mismatch no matter who he faces.
Don’t be discouraged that the Cowboys were the fourth-best defense versus tight ends last year, the Giants will pepper Waller with enough targets for him to have respectable fantasy numbers in this game.
Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson
The Cowboys have traditionally killed the Giants with their tight ends, whether it be Jason Witten or Dalton Schultz or whomever.
Their latest stud at the position is Jake Ferguson, who quarterback Dak Prescott believes will be a ‘big-time player’ in this league.
The Giants struggled against tight ends last season and Prescott knows how to beat the Giants with them.
