The New York Giants face off against the Washington Commanders in a matchup of two 7-5-1 teams fighting for the final playoff berths in the NFC.
What does that mean fantasy football-wise? It’ll be like a playoff game — no holding back.
Here’s a quick fantasy roundup of the game.
Season-long options
This game is a matchup between two quarterbacks (Daniel Jones and Taylor Heinecke) that if you’re starting either one of them this week, you are in tough shape. There are plenty of other options to choose from.
Most leagues begin their playoffs this week, so the only league-wide attractions are Giants running back Saquon Barkley and Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
There will be some RB3 value in Washington’s Antonio Gibson and Brain Robinson but since they split the workload, it’s tough to put chips on either in a season-long lineup.
DFS picks
Since this game is on Sunday night, it wouldn’t be part of any DFS slate this week, so it’s going to be a stand-alone affair.
Barkley and McLaurin have the most point potential in this game. Jones and Heinicke could put up some decent numbers as well.
But in Draft Kings Showdown Captain contests, they all are over $14-15k salary-wise and Barkley is the most at $18.5k. He racked up 19.1 FFPS two weeks ago in the first meeting.
McLaurin had 27.5 FFPS two weeks ago and he’s nearly 4k less than Barkley and with the Giants’ secondary still telling, he’d be my captain pick.
Some secondary options
As stated, it’s hard to put Gibson or Robinson in the captain slot as their roles are dictated by the game script. They are both solid flex options.
Others you should try to fit in the flex roles are Giants wideouts Darius Slayton and Isaiah Hodgins. Slayton caught eight passes for 90 yards in the first meeting, and Hodgins has scored in two straight games. Some will make a case for Richie James, but he’s coming off the concussion protocol.
The Commanders have a talented receiving corps outside of McLaurin in Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson. Both should have plenty of opportunities in this game.
The tight ends for both teams are not reliable picks due to volume issues. The Giants do occasionally use the TE in the passing game and the Commanders rarely target theirs.
Don't forget the kickers
In case you were asking, Graham Gano is still a Giant. He has been used sparingly. He’s only attempted six field goals in the last five games. In this game, that might change this week, but I’m not feeling it.
If I had to, I’d rather put my chips on Commanders kicker Joey Slye, who is utilized more and has been a more consistent DFS scorer.
