Let’s all have a moment of silence for the many fantasy football managers who had Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown in their lineups Sunday for league championships.
When he removed his shoulder pads and walked off the field in the third quarter of Tampa Bay’s game against the New York Jets, he potentially took with him their hopes and dreams of finally gaining bragging rights and league supremacy.
It was shaping up to be a big week for Brown — and those managers — with Bucs wide receivers Mike Evans less than 100% and Chris Godwin out for the season. Brown’s return from a three-game suspension last week couldn’t have come at a better time, and he produced in a win over the Panthers. Repeating Sunday against the Jets’ lowly pass defense was supposed to be a given.
Instead, for some unknown reason (after just three catches for 26 yards) Brown did the unthinkable and just left…mid-drive. This is something you don’t see everyday and raises questions about his mental health, especially considering his tumultuous tenure in Tampa Bay that was rife with controversy. Quarterback Tom Brady asked people to have compassion.
In the heat of battle, however, all fantasy managers could think about was their impending runner-up finish.
Well, the jokes on me for starting Antonio Brown in the fantasy championship, he just took off his clothes and ran off the field in the middle of a Buccaneers offensive drive pic.twitter.com/xFtgMIBj6j

Antonio Brown really didn’t put my fantasy football team (which is playing in the championship) into consideration when quitting mid-game.
Selfish.

Brown has recently been a risky fantasy option due to his unpredictability. But at least, in the past, people had the option to call an audible on who to insert into their lineups before games began.
This time, they were stuck with him and his measly 5.6 points (PPR format), and it couldn’t have come at a worse possible time. You hate to see it.
