Fantasy football alert: Saquon Barkley says his replacement is ‘gonna go crazy today’

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley wants to ease any worries that Giants fans — and fantasy owners — might have about his backup, Wayne Gallman.

Barkley, who is set to miss six to eight weeks with an ankle injury, said on Twitter Sunday that “22 gonna go crazy today.” (Gallman wears No. 22.)

Barkley was generally one of the top picks in fantasy football drafts, so his injury surely left owners scrambling for options at the running back position. Gallman was the most obvious replacement on waivers, but he probably required the No. 1 position in wavier claims. And perhaps he’ll prove worthwhile if he lives up to Barkley’s hype on Sunday.

Gallman is set to start against the Washington Redskins, who have allowed the fifth-most yards per game through three weeks. If Gallman plays anything like Barkey (and gets comparable workload), he might finish among the top running backs in scoring.
