Fantasy football: 5 players to start from Giants-Vikings matchup

The New York Giants will take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday in their second straight home game and in search of their third straight win.

Big Blue has been rejuvenated since the organization made the move to rookie Daniel Jones era, and several players have begun to step up.

Let’s take a look at some players you may want to consider starting in this weekend’s Giants Vikings matchup:

Evan Engram, TE

Engram has been the No. 1 tight end in fantasy so far. Whether it was Eli Manning in the first two games or Daniel Jones ever since, Engram has gotten a heavy target share.

The Vikings allow the 11th-least amount of points to opposing tight ends but don’t let that scared you from playing the Giants tight end. This will be the first week that the Giants will have Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate on the field together, which should open things up for Engram.

Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, WR

It’s no secret the Vikings have one of the better receiving cores in the league. Starting wide receivers playing against the Giants this year have become an easy decision. Even just two weeks ago when the Giants got their first win of the season, Mike Evans, who had been quiet fantasy wise going into Week 3, exploded against the Giants. Evans had 37 points in that matchup.

In the first two weeks both the Cowboys and Bills had their way against the Giants defense. The Giants may have problems slowing down the Vikings air attack on Sunday.

Kirk Cousins, QB

Up until last week, the decision was easy to start the opposing quarterback against the Giants. Cousins and the Vikings are coming off a tough week where they couldn’t score much against the Bears defense.

The Giants defense may be just what the doctor ordered for Cousins and the Vikes. Big Blue’s defense gives up the 7th-most fantasy points against opposing quarterbacks. Expect Cousins to have his way on Sunday.

Wayne Gallman, RB

Hopefully if you had the privilege to draft Saquon Barkley in the first round on your fantasy draft, you were smart enough to get some insurance by drafting his backup, Wayne Gallman.

It was telling that following the Barkley injury — the Giants passed on the opportunity to sign a high-profile running back to help replace some of Barkley’s productivity. Some may have better options than starting Wayne Gallman, but clearly he is getting the heavy workload for as long as Barkley is out.
