'Fantastic' mum-of-two, 21, sent WhatsApp about being upset then took her own life

A "fantastic mum" described as "extremely sentimental" sent a final WhatsApp message before taking her own life.

The family of Megan Morrey, 21, said she was "so loving" and had been "full of life" before her untimely death.

The mum, who leaves behind two young children, had died after returning home from seeing her ex-partner on August 7, the ECHO reports.

An inquest into her death today heard she sent messages on FaceTime and WhatsApp before sending one to her ex which expressed that she was upset.

Her mum and sister found her dead after going to her home when they couldn't get in contact with her.

Megan, who died at her home in Norris Green, Liverpool, was described as hugely popular and tributes flooded in after her death.

The former Holly Lodge Girls' School pupil was remembered for her "loving" nature.

Today her mum, speaking on behalf of the family, told the Liverpool Echo: "Megan was full of life, always adventurous, a karaoke queen, singing and joking, extremely sentimental.

"She was so loving, who would do anything for anybody.

"Megan was a fantastic mum who idolised her two children and had so many friends.

"Hundreds attended her funeral wearing personalised T-shirts, people were so shocked.

"It's just tragic, you just don't know what is going on in someone's mind."

Today, at Megan's inquest in Kirkdale, a conclusion of suicide was made by Assistant Coroner David Lewis.

Megan, who previously lived in Tuebrook, leaves two young children.

The family's tribute added: "Megan was very loving, even her primary and senior school teachers came to the funeral.

"The funeral director at Anfield Crematorium said it was the biggest funeral he'd ever seen, with hundreds lining the streets.

"Megan had a heart of gold."

Assistant Coroner Lewis told her family the 21-year-old "had so much to live for," and added: "It may have happened in the heat of the moment when the balance of her mind wasn't quite right.

"I hope you've got a treasure chest of memories [about her.]"
