'Fantastic deal!' Why rapid Man Utd star Daniel James is the perfect fit for Leeds United with opponents 'scared'

Manchester United winger Daniel James will be a "perfect" fit for Leeds United, former England international David James has claimed.

The Wales star is expected to complete a move worth in the region of £25million on transfer deadline day, finally landing at Elland Road two-and-a-half years after his botched move from Swansea City.

The return of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford has seemingly pushed James out the door, but James Snr, who racked up almost 1,000 appearances in his club career, believes Leeds have a real player on their hands.

Known for his pace, the Welshman's work ethic and experience at Old Trafford will be invaluable to Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, the ex-goalkeeper has claimed.

And James believes the winger will stitch seamlessly into the fabric at the Yorkshire club.

"I think it’s a fantastic deal," James said on Sky Sports.

"When you look at the way Dan James plays. He’s rapid, attack-minded, has played over 50 games for United in the Premier League and he will suit the Leeds style.

"People are scared of their work ethic and pace and I think James fits perfectly into that.

"Obviously Ronaldo joining United now makes him more surplus to requirements.

"He’s still 23 years old so he still has plenty of time on his side and [Marcelo] Bielsa could take advantage of that."
