Fans won't let Titan forget Papalii chase

Gold Coast's Jamal Fogarty says Canberra will provide an ideal early-season NRL test for the Titans. (AAP)

It's the tackle he'd rather forget but it seems no-one is letting Gold Coast's Jamal Fogarty move on from being chased down by Canberra's Josh Papalii last year.

The Titans co-captain was in the clear with the tryline looming during the clash with the Raiders at CBUS Super Stadium in August only for the 120kg prop to run him down and ankle tap him with a desperate dive.

While there's been no cheeky texts or banter from Raiders players heading into this Saturday's clash with Canberra at Robina, Fogarty admits that moment has almost become career-defining.

"I get reminded everywhere I go in public, that's probably the first thing people come and say to me," the halfback said.

"I've just learned to embrace it.

"I can't change it. If I just smile and have a laugh with it, it makes it a lot easier.

"Hopefully there's none of that this weekend for myself."

The 36-16 loss to the Raiders last year was the Titans' last defeat in 2020 before a five-game winning run to end the season.

Justin Holbrook's team has rebounded from a disappointing opening round defeat this season to the Warriors to claim back-to-back victories over Queensland rivals Brisbane and North Queensland in the past fortnight.

Fogarty says taking on Ricky Stuart's experienced Raiders line-up will be another step up for the Titans however.

"They're very experienced. They know how to get the job done," Fogarty said.

"The last two weeks we've been building as a team with good performances so to come up against an awesome Canberra team this weekend it'll see where we're at as a whole club."
