Fans warn Stacey Solomon over 'innocent but illegal' mistake while on beach trip

Fans warned Stacey Solomon over an 'innocent but illegal' mistake while she was on holiday.

Stacey, 30, was taking a trip to the beach with her partner Joe Swash and their one-year-old son at the time.

The Loose Women panelist posted her day out on Instagram, telling her fans she had been hunting for pebbles on Sunday morning.

The TV star took her pebbles home with her but some of her fans claimed she maybe shouldn't have done so, the MEN has reported.

But were they right?

Speaking in a video on her Instagram Story, Stacey said: "A few of you are messaging saying 'be careful, Stace, you can get arrested for taking pebbles off the beach.'

"Well, that's a bummer. I just spent two hours collecting those bad boys.

"We're going to have to take them back. We have to, it's illegal."

She then joked: "I'm not getting arrested by the pebble police on my holidays - I've got work tomorrow."

But was she actually wrong?

Under the Coastal Protection Act 1949, it's "unlawful" to remove any materials on, under or forming part of any portion of the seashore.

And it could land someone with a £1,000 fine for leaving areas exposed to erosion.

However, Stacey was in the clear after a panicked phone call left her assured that it was "100 per cent ok" to take some of the rocks.

Alongside a picture of Rex she wrote: "Just called the local heritage coast centre and they said where we were fossil hunting it is 100 per cent ok to take some home, as long as you don't have a wheelbarrow full or find a massive one.

"Wahoo, I wondered why they hired hammers out."
