Fans think Matthijs de Ligt transfer will be announced today after club drop hint

Matthijs de Ligt has been the transfer story of the summer so far - but his future is close to being resolved.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain emerged as the two leading contenders for his signature, with Barcelona still holding slim hopes of securing his services.

But after a teaser from Juventus, fans believe the Ajax youngster could have his next move announced as early as today (Monday).

The Turin giants posted a 10-second teaser clip on their social media on Sunday, captioned "Ignite our tomorrow."

The video said: "What sets us apart? Coming up next. 01.07.2019".

It sent fans into a frenzy, believing it to be a teaser of the De Ligt signing being announced.

Fans responded with clips of De Ligt with others simply commenting "this is De Ligt" as the future of one of the most coveted talents in world football comes close to being decided.

The Dutch defender has been holidaying in the Bahamas with his girlfriend, where he has been considering his big decision.

It is understood he will make a final call and put pen to paper now he is back in Europe, with Juventus the front-runners after putting together a huge financial offer.

Barcelona were the favourites, having also landed team-mate Frenkie de Jong, until De Ligt and agent Mino Raiola ramped up his financial demands.

PSG then jumped to the front of the queue, only to be leapfrogged by Juventus after they set their sights on the 19-year-old to be their first major signing since Maurizio Sarri's return.

The teaser could be linked to the signing of Adrien Rabiot, who they filmed arriving in Turin to complete his free transfer from PSG.

But it seemed to suggest some much bigger news on the horizon today which has left fans anxiously waiting.
