Fans think Manchester United have learned from past mistakes with Paulo Dybala transfer decision

Manchester United have pulled out of the running to sign Paulo Dybala in a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku after deciding against meeting his wage demands.

Dybala had been in talks with United over a potential swap with wantaway striker Lukaku, who had already agreed terms with Juve.

Now, however, the Argentine will not be signing for United ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had doubts over Dybala's commitment to his project at Old Trafford.

While fans were understandably disappointed to hear that a player of Dybala's quality would not be wearing the United shirt next season, there was a feeling of acceptance that the club should not be held to ransom over paying high wages.

The case of Alexis Sanchez's wage in the squad has been well documented, and fans also saw comparisons with Angel Di Maria's ill-fated spell at United, praising the club for avoiding a potential repeat.

Now, though, fans want to see some movement in the transfer market before Thursday's deadline.
