The long-running series The Simpsons has built a reputation over the years for predicting the future.
Matt Groening’s animated sitcom has become notorious for some of its episodes and jokes becoming eerily accurate, in what some choose to believe is a stranger-than-fiction power of “prediction”.
Now, a 2000 episode of the show, titled “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes”, is going viral due to supposed parallels with Jeffrey Epstein’s private island, where the late sex offender was accused of sexually abusing and trafficking underage girls.
In the Season 12 episode, Homer launches a blog under the name “Mr. X” and spreads rumours over the internet. This gets him kidnapped and taken to a secret island where “some crazy creeps” send people who “know too much” about their shady deals.
Clips from the episode have been shared on social media, with many drawing parallels between the show and Epstein’s Little Saint James and Great Saint James islands - collectively referred to as "Epstein Island".
“The Simpsons predicted Epstein might be the thing that finally breaks my brain,” one person wrote on X, while another commented: “Epstein files just dropped more names… meanwhile The Simpsons already warned us in 2000.”
Things get stranger, as some have pointed out connections to the accusation against Matt Groening himself.
The Simpsons creator was mentioned in 2019 Epstein-related court documents, with Virginia Giuffre having previously alleged she gave Groening a foot massage on Epstein's private jet when she was 16.
Giuffre portrayed him as "polite and did not allege further misconduct."
Recently, a Department of Justice document mentioned Groening in an email about introducing him to Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus for a potential Simpsons cameo.
