Fans spot huge flaw in background of Greg James's hungover BRITs kidnap stunt

Radio 1's Greg James had a very, very good night at the BRITs - so much so that he didn't actually make it home after the celebrations finished.

The BBC DJ started a huge (and hilarious) drama when his wife Bella tweeted that she hadn't seen him.

While fellow host Adele stepped in to cover his morning show, Greg took to Instagram and Twitter to explain his absence, and hangover - claiming he had been kidnapped.

Talking to Scott Mills live on his Radio 1 show that day, he said: "It was really busy...it got really busy...it must have been an hour and half in, I got bundled out the back door, a blindfold was put on me and I was put in a car."

But fans spotted a huge flaw in the videos he posted.

Greg posted videos online saying he was "locked up" (Greg James/Instagram)

On the door of the room where Greg was supposedly "holed up", was a padlock...

A padlock... On the inside of a door? Good try Greg.

A number of fans noticed his blunder, with one saying: "Question.... Who was able to put that padlock on and get out of the room?"

Another said: "Why is the padlock on the inside mate?"

Hmmm... (Instagram)

Someone even went to the effort of finding the exact padlock Greg had used in the stunt: "I've found the padlock in the white room! It even says 'Perfect for Escape Rooms'"

But the presenter had managed to successfully prank his boss.

Matt Edmondson said he'd had the "most panicked call you could ever receive" from one of the bosses who said Greg hadn't turned up for work, describing Greg as "the least likely presenter to go missing after the Brits" before adding: "I'm telling you now he's up to something."

Presenter Adele Roberts who had to step in for the hungover star, told listeners: "Please don't worry about Greg James. He is definitely safe and sound.. he is just very much asleep."

Another presenter, Jordan North then added: "He's in a lot of trouble. It's the biggest breakfast show in the world and he hasn't turned up.
