Fans spot embarrassing problem with Jake Paul’s boast about Ben Askren fight purse

Jake Paul wasted little time in claiming to have swollen his bank account by another few million.

He claimed last night that his two-minute knockout of Ben Askren has generated $65million from 1.3m pay-per-view buys.

That would likely see him earn an eight-figure sum after his share of the revenue is calculated.

And Paul celebrated in the only way he knows how - by posing with a holdall of money on his back garden - but fans noted a problem.

Apart from one seemingly stray $100 bill, the rest of the notes are $1 denominations - not exactly the image he wants to create.

Paul's guaranteed purse was $690,000 compared to $500,000 for Askren, but both will receive much more when the dust settles.

Indeed, Paul claimed to have earned $10m from his fight against Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson's comeback against Roy Jones Jr last November.

But doubt has already been cast on Paul's claims which would place his fight just outside the top 10 pay-per-views of all time.

According to one study, Floyd Mayweather's 2010 win over Shane Mosley is currently 10th with 1.4m buys and $78.3m

Paul has now won all three of his professional boxing fights - against a fellow YouTuber, a former NBA star and a retired wrestler with a dodgy hip.

He was called out by Tommy Fury on Sunday after the pair had traded social media jabs last month.

Paul said he was ready to accept the fight but wanted Fury's brother Tyson to be part of the show.

He added: "I told you I was going do it in the first round.

"I told you I'm a real fighter. I don't know how many times I've got to prove myself that this is for real."
