Fans of the hit BBC series The Traitors think they’ve uncovered a major twist — and that a very famous face could be about to enter the game. Many viewers are convinced that Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is secretly joining Celebrity Traitors.
The celebrity version of the murder mystery competition, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, has already returned for a new season packed with famous names. The lineup includes Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Clare Balding, singer Cat Burns, and comedian Lucy Beaumont, all battling it out inside the show’s signature Scottish castle. The contestants compete to win up to £100,000 for charity by exposing the hidden “Traitors” among them before they’re eliminated.

According to the Daily Record, Claudia chose Alan Carr, Cat Burns, and TV host Jonathan Ross as this season’s Traitors. So far, viewers have already said goodbye to Clare Balding, Tom Daley, and Niko Omilana.
But fans think the show might be about to take a wild turn. During last week’s episode, contestants were split into two teams for a challenge that involved matching eerie “banshee wails” to the correct voices. The banshees were all female, and Claudia made a point of mentioning that detail — something viewers immediately noticed.
“New celeb replacing one of the murderers? Would only happen early on in the series and would be a woman because CW specified that banshees are female (thought it was odd she mentioned that),” one fan wrote online. Another viewer chimed in, saying, “I love this idea.”
Adding fuel to the theory, eagle-eyed fans spotted that one of the lockets used in a mission had the name “Phoebe” engraved on it. That single clue was enough to send social media into speculation mode. “I noticed one of the lockets said ‘Phoebe’. Please bring in Phoebe Waller-Bridge halfway through!” another fan wrote.
If the fan theories are right, it would be a massive surprise for viewers — and a perfect fit for Waller-Bridge, who’s no stranger to dark humour and psychological twists. The award-winning writer and actor is best known for Fleabag and co-wrote the James Bond film No Time To Die. She also appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny alongside Harrison Ford.
For now, the BBC hasn’t confirmed anything, but fans are watching closely. If a new player does walk into the castle, all eyes will be on whether it really is Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
