Fans 'removed' from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after clashes during Spurs vs Vitesse

Antonio Conte’s first game in charge of Tottenham was marred by crowd trouble in the away end.

Spurs got off to a flying start and goals from Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and an own goal from Vitesse defender Jacob Rasmussen had the home side 3-0 up.

Lapses in concentration saw Vitesse grab two goals before the half to make it a game again.

However, there were some ugly scenes involving the travelling Dutch supporters in the stands during that first period which ruined what had been a terrific opening 45 minutes on the pitch.

“Unfortunately, there has been some crowd trouble in the away end throughout that first half,” BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas said at the break.

“Clashes between fans and the police which saw a lot of fans removed from the stadium but thankfully, it is now calmed down.”

Fans inside the ground told football.london they could see trouble in the away end during the game, and this was later confirmed in the BT Sport studio.

After racing into a 3-0 lead, Spurs were on edge going into the break and even more so after when defender Cristian Romero was shown a second yellow card and received his marching orders.
