Thailand's celebrations at Women's World Cup leaves coach in tears and fans delighted

Thailand may have lost their opening two games of this summer's Women's World Cup in France, but they seem to be winning over new fans for their reaction to scoring their first goal of this year's competition.

The Chaba Kaew were beaten 13-0 in their first game against the USA - a record for a Women's World Cup match.

They were subsequently beaten 5-1 by Sweden on Sunday also, leaving them with a -17 goal difference after their opening two fixtures.

Centre-back Linda Sembrant broke the deadlock for Sweden with a thumping header off an Elin Rubensson free-kick, before midfielder Kosovare Asllani pounced on a rebound to double their lead.

Fridolina Rolfo hammered in a third from outside the box as the Blagult finished with three goals in the first half of a World Cup match for the first time since a third-place playoff win over Germany in 1991.

Forward Lina Hurtig and Rubensson scored in the second half to add gloss to the scoreline, while attacker Kanjana Sung-ngoen pulled one back for Thailand in the closing stages.

And it was that goal from Kanjana that led to many of those watching the game on TV to take their social media to express their delight at how Thailand celebrated so wildly.

'H-Town King' said : "Seeing a country who has been absolutely obliterated like Thailand score their first goal and everyone cheer and cry like they just won the whole thing is quite wonderful!"

Anela Melton commented : "Wow the sideline reaction to Thailand scoring just about made me cry."

Thailand round out their Women's World Cup campaign against Chile in Rennes on Thursday when they will hope to delight social media with more goal celebrations.
