Fans react to Manchester United's starting line-up vs Man City as Marcus Rashford on bench

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his starting line-up for this lunchtime's Manchester derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford, making some bold selection calls.

United, who are unbeaten in their last four Premier League encounters with their cross-city rivals, will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins for the first time since September, following last weekend's 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst the victory over Spurs last Saturday did ease some of the pressure on Solskjaer's shoulders, Tuesday evening's performance against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League did leave a lot to be desired, with United fortunate to secure a point late on.

With Solskjaer in desperate need of a victory, especially at Old Trafford, he has made three changes to the side that secured a 2-2 draw in Bergamo.

Victor Lindelof, back from injury, Fred and Mason Greenwood have come into the side, meaning the injured Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have dropped out of the starting line-up. Pogba is serving the second game of his three-match suspension.

Solskjaer has faced no shortage of criticism in recent weeks from a growing number of United supporters, especially when it has come to him naming his starting line-ups, with them often coming under scrutiny.

This time around, ahead of what is a crucial contest for both sides, it is Solskjaer's decision to leave Rashford out of the starting line-up for a game of such magnitude that has attracted the most attention from the United supporters in the immediate aftermath of his starting line-up being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some United supporters have had to say on social media in response to the Norwegian's decision.

As you can see from the messages displayed above, Solskjaer's decision to leave Rashford out of the starting line-up, just as he did against Spurs, has not gone down overly well, with the striker having come off the bench to score last weekend.

However, Solskjaer's decision has been influenced by the fact that the striker felt under the weather earlier this week, meaning he required a late fitness test to make the squad. Against tired legs, he could have a huge role to play later in the game.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Lindelof, Bailly, Maguire; Wan-Bissaka, Fred, McTominay, Shaw; Fernandes; Greenwood, Ronaldo.

Substitutes: Henderson, Telles, Dalot, Lingard, Matic, Van de Beek, Martial, Rashford, Sancho.
