Fans react as lacklustre Ireland fall behind Switzerland in first-half

Mick McCarthy's Ireland have been uninspiring in a dour first-half performance as they fell behind Switzerland in the crunch Euro 2020 tie.

Haris Seferović put the hosts in front in Geneva with a low strike into the bottom right corner mid way through the half, with Ireland failing to create any clear cut chances.

Aaron Connolly, making his first start, was the pick of the bunch as the teenager looked lively - but fans weren't happy with the performance and took to social media to voice their displeasure.

But Ireland know a win over Switzerland will seal their place at the Euro 2020 finals next summer.

But it still remains a tough ask for Mick McCarthy's side who were held to a 0-0 draw by Georgia in Tbilisi on Saturday to leave them needing a win against either the Swiss or versus Denmark at the Aviva.

David McGoldrick lost his fitness race for the match as 19-year-old Aaron Connolly made his first start for the Boys in Green.
