Fans react as Joe Sheridan and Peter Fitzpatrick come face-to-face after infamous 2010 Leinster final goal

In one of the most talked-about provincial finals in history, Meath were crowned Leinster champions in 2010 after a controversial Joe Sheridan goal proved the winner.

The Wee county were left heartbroken after Sheridan was judged to have scored a goal where he seemingly carried the ball over the line and threw it into the net.

The saga raged on for weeks as the day's referee Martin Sludden was heavily scrutinised for his decision to allow the goal to stand - while a case for a replay was debated.

And coming face-to-face ten years on, Sheridan and Louth's manager Peter Fitzpatrick were at hand on the Sunday Game to discuss the fall-out of the goal.

Both men spoke of the controversies, with Fitzpatrick claiming he has never gone a day in ten years without thinking of the heartbreak.

And Sheridan discussed his perspective as a player and opened up on hate-mail he received as a result.

Fans have taken to social media, revisiting the age-long debate.
